Sheringham believes his old club made a mistake.

Former Manchester United striker Teddy Sheringham believes his old club made a mistake by not signing top players Harry Kane and Declan Rice when they were ready to leave.

The Red Devils have spent a staggering £1.6billion since Sir Alex Ferguson left in 2013 but are yet to win the Premier League title, with Erik ten Hag’s reign alone seeing more than £600million splashed out on big-spending players such as Antony, Mason Mount and Andre Onana, who are still struggling.

Speaking to Joe Cole and Ashley Cole on สมัคร ufabet กับเรา รับโบนัสทันที Football Greatest Football. Sheringham said: “I’m very positive about Amorim, I like the way he’s come in and the way he’s presented himself.

“Obviously I like his team and the way they play. When they turned things around against Manchester City with the passion they showed, he made the team play with energy and determination, which is very important.”

“I am very positive that we have got the right people but they have a long way to go and for me he has to get some top players in. There is no doubt about it. They have spent a lot of money on good players but when you talk about Manchester United you want top players.”

“In the last two years, Harry Kane and Declan Rice have been available, top players, great examples, players who have proven themselves every week, top professionals, but they haven’t come close to signing either of them. They let Harry go to Bayern – they snatched Rice from Arsenal.”

“When those top players were ready to move during Sir Alex Ferguson’s time, he would go for it… Gary Pallister, Roy Keane, Paul Ince, Wayne Rooney, he went for it and got them.”

“He said, ‘You play for me now, you’re not going anywhere in this country, you’re coming to Manchester United because you’re one of the best’. But that’s not happening now. They have to get back on track to sign top players who are exemplary.”
